Sziget Festival 2026 returns to its roots. Dates announced and a new chapter begins

Sziget Festival, one of Europe’s largest and most iconic music events, has announced the dates for its 2026 edition. The festival will take place from 11–15 August 2026 on Óbuda Island in Budapest, Hungary. Sziget signals a return to its original artistic identity, supported by a significant organisational shift: the comeback of founder Károly Gerendai.

Founder returns to lead the future

After more than 30 years of history and over 11 million visitors in total, Sziget is entering a new phase. Its original creator is back at the helm, aiming to reinforce the festival’s core values: openness, creativity and an international community spirit. The decision strengthens the connection between Sziget and the city of Budapest.

A new vision built on strong foundations

A renewed long-term land agreement has been established with the Budapest Municipality, ensuring continued support for the festival. Following a successful 2025 edition with clear audience growth and further investment in the festival experience, Sziget looks ahead with confidence.

Organisers emphasise that Sziget aims to maintain its status as a leading festival in Europe — both musically and culturally.

A five-day format for a focused festival week

Sziget Festival 2026 will run for five full days, from Tuesday to Saturday. An additional move-in day will be provided for campers. With this streamlined structure, every festival day is designed to be packed with performances, art and community experiences.

Ticket sales and pre-registration

A 48-hour exclusive pre-sale for Full Festival Passes will begin on Friday, November 7 at 12:00. Prices are expected to remain at the same level as the previous edition. Pre-registration is open until November 5 via the official website:
www.szigetfestival.com

Pre-registration offers early access to the lowest-priced tickets.

More than a music festival

Sziget is widely recognised for its multidimensional cultural experience. In addition to headline acts from around the world, visitors can enjoy:

• theatre and circus performances
• large-scale art installations
• dance shows and creative workshops
• themed festival districts full of attractions

Every August, Óbuda Island becomes a meeting point for festivalgoers from more than 100 countries, celebrating freedom, diversity and artistic discovery.
